On June 6, 2026, we visited the Sunya Giri Orphanage in Denpasar for a session on waste and the environment, with 12 volunteers and 25 children taking part.
Sorting, Step by Step
We focused on the fundamentals: how to separate waste by type, and why that one habit matters more than almost anything else a household can do. A clean and healthy environment always starts with the people living in it, and that is as true at an orphanage in Denpasar as anywhere else.
Nearly Four Hours Together
We stayed for close to four hours, long enough to move past the introductions and into real conversation. The session ended with a craft activity built entirely from plastic waste, sending every child home with something they had made themselves out of material that would otherwise have been thrown away.
