On August 22, 2026, we held an environmental education session at SDN 6 Pedungan in Denpasar, with 28 volunteers and 200 students — our largest school audience of the year.
What Littering Actually Does
The session went straight at the consequences. Volunteers walked the students through what happens to waste that is dropped rather than binned: pollution, harm to animals, blocked drains, and the health and sanitation problems that follow. Children grasp cause and effect quickly when the effects are ones they can see on their own street.
Two Hundred at Once
Reaching a group this size takes a volunteer for roughly every seven children, which is why 28 people came along. Interactive activities kept the scale manageable and gave the students something to do rather than only something to hear. The aim, as always, is the habit that outlasts the morning.
